His entrepreneurial mind led him to call his cousin Benjamin Wilson who worked for his uncle David’s menswear store in Sale, Victoria. Initially based on the Tupperware model – Matt said to Ben, "If I get a group of guys together at the bank, will you bring a range of suits, measure the boys up and deliver them?” Ben replied, “Yeah sure. Maybe we should put on a few beers too and if I sell a few I will give you a discount!”. Matt then emailed his friends and work mates and the first ‘Suit Party’ was created in June 2006...
Let’s just say the suit party was a success and Matt got more than a discount!
As the idea evolved, two distinctive markets within the male suit industry were targeted.
1. The male who hates shopping
2. The time-poor corporate male
Menzwear Direct then began to visit corporate offices and homes of clients, where they would turn a small office or lounge room into a menswear store. Clients would simply select a suit, be measured up and receive their fully tailored suit within 3 business days.
Ex-AFL Footballer and Real Estate agent Daniel Breese became the first licensee of Menzwear Direct in September 2006 when he began supplying tailored suits to the Melbourne Football Club. Daniel's passion to make this business the world’s largest mobile menswear store led him to become a joint Director in March 2007 and is the foundation for his strong business partnership with Matt.
